Artemis Hot Plate Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus: Precision Shrinkage Analysis

Artemis is proud to introduce the Hot Plate Thermal Film Shrinkage Apparatus, an essential instrument designed for the rapid and cost-effective evaluation of plastic film shrinkage. This apparatus utilizes a specialized "Hot Plate" method to quantify the release of internal stresses—locked in during the manufacturing process—when a material is exposed to controlled thermal environments.

By plotting percentage shrinkage against specific temperatures, laboratories can gain critical insights into the thermal stability and performance of polymer films used throughout the flexible packaging industry.

Thermal Performance & Control

  • High-Grade Construction: The instrument features an integrated sample plate manufactured from 304-grade stainless steel for superior durability and heat distribution.

  • Exceptional Accuracy: Temperature is managed by a 1/16 DIN PID digital controller and a PT100 platinum resistance thermometer, maintaining a stable test environment within ±0.1 °C.

  • Integrated Monitoring: A built-in electronic timer tracks precise test durations to ensure repeatable results across multiple batches.

Simple & Effective Test Methodology

The apparatus is designed for ease of use while maintaining high analytical standards:

  • Precision Preparation: A 100mm x 100mm cutting template is supplied as standard, ensuring test specimens are accurately dimensioned before analysis.

  • Optimized Heat Transfer: The template doubles as a weighted cover, working in conjunction with a thin layer of silicone oil to ensure uniform thermal contact between the hot plate and the film.

  • Post-Test Quantification: After a set exposure period, samples are cooled to room temperature and re-measured to determine the final percentage of dimensional shrinkage.

Safety & Versatility

  • Redundant Protection: For laboratory safety, the system is equipped with an independent over-temperature thermostat to prevent thermal runaway.

  • Industrial Value: While not governed by a specific international standard, its high temperature precision and economical design make it a vital asset for polymer film quality control.

  • Global Compatibility: Available in both 110–120V (60 Hz) and 220–240V (50 Hz) configurations to suit international power standards.
